Great question, with no “one size fits all” answer. First, you must determine what situation you’re wanting to protect yourself from. Are you walking from car to store and generally have free access to arm movement? Or, are you exercising and possibly have no storage means?
These are both very different situations and, quite honestly, you can sit and list a multitude of situations that you could possibly find yourself needing protection. So, lets say you are walking from car to store. Generally, access to a pocket would seem probable and thus, having your stun gun, taser gun or pepper gun in your pocket generally makes sense. That is, as long as you come upon your attacker and have a little bit of response time. But, if they jump from behind you and wrap their arms around you demanding you do something, your arms won’t be free to reach into a pocket. So, in this case, a belt mounted holster would probably be more sensible.
As stated, there are a multitude of situations you could find yourself in and there is no “one place” for everyone to carry their weapon. So, you have to give thought to the situation you most likely expect and feel the most vulnerable. Then, imagine where you would have access to and that’s going to be the best place to carry your self defense weapon.
